One Year Already?

It’s hard to believe that it has already been a year since I walked through the doors at Nexa Financial Group. When I look back on the past year, I feel incredibly grateful for the team I get to work alongside, the amount I have learned, and how much this place has come to feel like home.

Coming into Nexa, I knew I was stepping into something completely new. With a background in graphic design, I have worked in many different industries…architecture, retail, luxury goods, website management, social media and everything in between. So diving into financial services was not only new to me, but a big learning experience! There is a level of responsibility that comes with communicating about something as personal and important as someone’s financial future. It’s not simply about creating something that looks good or writing something that gets attention. It’s about making complex topics approachable, providing meaningful information and, most importantly, communicating in a way that reflects the trust our clients place in us. It has pushed me to learn, and I’ve genuinely loved every minute of it.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to take everything I’ve learned throughout my career and apply it in a completely new industry. I’ve gotten to work on everything from newsletters, social media, events, client communications, educational content, and our website. I have learned a lot simply by listening to the conversations Paul and Preston have, the questions clients pose, and the stories behind the people we serve.

One of the things that stood out to me very quickly about Nexa is that clients really do become part of the family. There is a lot of emphasis placed on the relationships that grow here. The more time I’ve spent here, the more I’ve gotten to know the people behind the accounts. I’ve learned about their families, their careers, their retirements, their celebrations and sometimes even the challenges they’re navigating. Between our team, our clients and the families we work with, there’s definitely a strong sense of connection around the office, and I’m happy to be a part of it. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a place where I can continue to flex the marketing and creative skills I’ve spent my career building while challenging myself to learn something entirely new.

Most importantly, I feel like I’ve found a place where I belong.

One year in, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, grateful for the people who have welcomed me so warmly, and excited to see where the next chapter takes us.

Here’s to year two!
