We can all feel it, the crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and that familiar shift in the air…fall has arrived! It’s the season of cozy sweaters, festive decorations, and those apple orchard trips where somehow you end up with a $40 bag of apples you just had to pick yourself. As a mom, I love planning fall activities that don’t just bring joy to the family but also keep things budget friendly. Whether it is a visit to the farmers market, just to walk around, or going to the park with a packed picnic, it’s always fun to get out of the house to feel that fresh fall season.
Here are a few fun and affordable ways to celebrate fall with your family and friends:
Visit a Cider Mill: Connecticut is the home to some of the oldest operating cider mills in the country! (Beardsley Cider Mill, Shelton. Hogans Cider Mill, Burlington. B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill, Mystic)
Drive (or walk!) through the Fall Foliage:
- By Car:
- Scenic Fairfield County | Estimated peak viewing: Oct.31 – Nov.9.
- Hartford West | Estimated peak viewing: Oct.9 – Oct.15.
- Mystic Country & the Coast | Estimated peak viewing: Oct.24 – Oct.30
- By Foot
- Sleeping Giant | Hamden
- Chapman Falls | Hamden
- Devil’s Den | Weston
Scarecrows on Main: Stroll through the historic Wethersfield (notorious for the Wethersfield Witch Trials) and admire the festive Annual Scarecrows along Main St! And if you want to get in on the fun – participation is free!
Drive through Pumpkintown Village in East Hampton: Opening Sept. 20th, walk through “The Village” or “The Forest” to admire over 100 Pumpkinhead people – each featuring multiple creative settings.
Planning seasonal activities is always exciting, but sometimes it’s nice to have options that go beyond the usual. With Halloween (my birthday) right around the corner, and a little boy who insists on being the coolest Spiderman on the block, I’m grateful for these creative, affordable ways to enjoy fall.
With this new season, comes my new chapter here at Nexa Financial Group. I am excited to get to know each and every one of you – and I am looking forward to the productive year ahead.
In my role as Director of Client Experience, I’d love to celebrate this season together by seeing how you and your families enjoy fall. Share a photo of a favorite fall activity, apple picking, pumpkin carving, hiking, or just going for a scenic drive, and you will be featured in our end-of-season newsletter!
It’s always inspiring (and fun!) to see how everyone makes the most of this time of year. Wishing you a happy, cozy, and memorable fall!
