Hello, Sunshine

There’s something about spring that just feels right, everything seems to sync up to a new, better tempo. You start to notice it in the little things: the way sunlight lasts longer each day, the buzz of lawnmowers returning to life, or how conversations shift from living rooms and dining rooms to patios and decks.

Spring isn’t just a new season—it’s a reset button. The jackets slowly get pushed to the back of the closet, the windows finally crack open, and maybe even the AC units get their first crack at the new year. For me, motivation returns and routines refresh.

And of course, baseball’s back.

For baseball fans, Opening Day is more than just a game—it’s a tradition, a hopeful heartbeat that signals brighter days ahead. We are now a month past opening day but May is about the time when teams start to hit their stride and you start to learn about your own team and what type of year it is about to be. As a diehard Red Sox fan, every year is a year in which I believe can be the year. I’ve always said there’s something poetic about baseball and maybe it’s because I’m a former player, but the strategy, suspense and energy of the games is unmatched. But watching the Sox return each spring is its own kind of ritual. Win or lose, the first pitch of the season always feels like home.

This time of year, I also find myself tackling projects again, just like everyone else. But now, I can look forward to putting down fresh mulch, planting fresh flowers and finally fixing that one thing I said I would fix last fall (we all have at least one). And! Mason certainly appreciates it—his tail starts wagging the moment the leash comes out, and a muddy trail is just the added bonus.

There’s a reason we associate spring with growth. Yes, it’s about the flowers and the grass, but also about getting back into our stride—whatever that looks like for you. Whether you’re cheering from the bleachers, walking your dog, or just enjoying the simple joy of driving with the windows down, here’s to spring and all it brings with it.
